Music and the Percussive Arts
Music has been an important passion of interest throughout my life—performing, arranging, and composing for marching band percussion sections, and percussion ensembles. I marched for 5 years as a member of Virginia Union University’s Drumline, where I was also the section leader and drumline arranger for my final two seasons. In the Fall of 2021, I was inducted to Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc., and in Spring 2024 I was inducted to Snare S.I. Phi Percussion Fraternity. I have now served as the Percussion Instructor for the Thomas Jefferson High School, Spirit of Richmond Marching Band since Fall of 2024.
I’ve written battery books for the Highschool I currently instruct at, as well as VUU from when I was a student; front ensemble layers for corps style, and stand tunes, and I often collaborate with directors to tailor percussion books to student skill levels while still pushing growth. Below are a few original pieces and solos I’ve produced using the software MuseScore—feel free to listen!
